چکیده
Using theBeppoSAX satellitewe have obtained the first secureX–ray detection of the supernova remnantG0.9+0.1. The 1–10 keV spectrum can be described with an absorbed power law with α ∼ 3 andNH ∼ 3×1023 cm−2. The high column density supports a distance similar to that of the Galactic Center. The X-ray emission, with a luminosity LX ∼ 10d10 erg s−1, coincides with the central radio core, confirming the composite nature of this remnant. Though a search for periodic pulsations gave a negative result, the observed X–rays are probably related to the presence of a young radio pulsar at the center of G0.9+0.1.

متن کاملX-ray emission from the galactic center region supernova remnant G0.9+0.1
We report the results of a BeppoSAX observation of the composite supernova remnant G0.9+0.1, located in the Galactic Center region. This new observation, in which the core of G0.9+0.1 is observed on–axis, confirms our previous results obtained from a pointing in which the supernova remnant was serendipitously observed at a large off–axis angle. The better quality of the new data allows us to co...

متن کاملInverse Compton Emission from Galactic Supernova Remnants: Effect of the Interstellar Radiation Field
The evidence for particle acceleration in supernova shells comes from electrons whose synchrotron emission is observed in radio and X-rays. Recent observations by the HESS instrument reveal that supernova remnants also emit TeV g-rays, long-awaited experimental evidence that supernova remnants can accelerate cosmic rays up to the “knee” energies. Still, uncertainty exists whether these g-rays a...
متن کاملLetter to the Editor Detection of an X-ray pulsed signal from the supernova remnant N157B in the Large Magellanic Cloud
The supernova remnant N157B was in the field of view during an observation of the LMC with the BeppoSAX satellite. A signal with a 16 ms periodicity was detected in the MECS data. The pulse profile is characterized by a single narrow peak with a flux of (5.1 ± 1.1) × 10−13 erg cm−2 s−1. In this paper the dynamical state of the plerion–shell system is discussed, and inferences are drawn on the o...
